neonjellyfish ; I totally forgot about dolls like the Hairstyling Holly. Real lowpoint for the franchise. I guess I just got stuck on Epic Winter because that's when I really got the sinking feeling about the whole franchise.
respositob ; That picture reminds me of just how hard it was to get the Hello My Name is Meygan! Raya was an okay new character, but they shouldn't have made it so hard to get Meygan. I think there was also a Study Abroad Meygan who was super hard to get.
Bratz 2015 had some really great lines, like Music Festival Vibes and Metallic Madness, but I don't think it was ever bound for success.
The 2018 Bratz were okay, I guess, but I preferred the 'kiddy' interpretations of their fashions from the 2015 reboot rather than the darker colors and overly intricate fashions from the collector line.
In fact, I Sasha's jacket here is was pretty heavily lined and that just seemed unnecessary for a doll at Bratz scale. Jade's fishnet hand things were also a bad idea; anybody who had the original Girlz Really Rock Jade knows how easily Bratz hands get stuck in fishnet and refuse to let go.
The shoe molds they picked weren't my favorite either, and everybody kind of had the same arch (that boot mold on Jade was overused so many times).
It probably wouldn't have hurt the doll quality either. Trying to do too much with the fashions ended up having the QC on the dolls be outright terrible, which a lot of people complained about. Too fierce to function, I guess.
I think they also had the Bratz the Movie doll articulated arms which despite being re-commissioned after 10 years didn't really get improved in any way.
Speaking of Bratz, there have been rumors that this Fall MGA will re-release the first edition Bratz as well as the Bratz Rock Angelz dolls. I'd love to finally get my hands on some Bratz Rock Angelz dolls at a good price.
